Our Mission Statement:

To Improve the Health and Wealth of the Community We Serve.

Our Vision:

Covered Community is leading in health advocacy for children and families and is recognized among a network of community organizations that champion outreach/education and enrollment in health coverage, access to care and other services.

Our History:

Covered Community is connected to statewide associations of community based outreach and enrollment organizations whose focus is helping children and families access affordable, quality health coverage and care. Covered Community was created in 2014 to provide an advocacy voice for consumers and navigate them to understanding their health plan and other needed social services.

As a mission-driven organization, Covered Community understands the importance of being involved with the community we serve. Our entire organization is deeply passionate about the work we do and the opportunity to create healthy lives within the underserved urban community.

Covered Community is a non-profit 501 c (3) non-profit Community Based Organization.

What we do?

We help consumers on a one-on-one basis, navigate through the healthcare system and other social services they may need.

Covered Community was birth out of the need it experienced during and after the Open Enrollment of Covered California. For the past 3 years, we have answered hundreds of concerned questions consumers have had about their health plans, Covered California and Medi-Cal.

It is Covered Community's goal to work within the urban neighborhoods across the greater Los Angeles area.

Covered Community greatest strength is collaborative partnership. With each program we implement or get involved with, we do it with the power of collaboration. Covered Community’s collaborative efforts allows for maximum support and greater impact on those who we reach out to. Our community partners we have worked with include: Schools, Faith Based Organizations, Community Based Organizations, Walgreens, LA County 211, Small Business Majority, SBA, Political Leaders, Kaiser, Molina, Health Net, Blue Shield, LA Care, Anthem.

Get checked LA

Covered Community is excited to roll out our first Health campaign called “Get Checked LA? In the African American and Latino communities of Los Angeles preventative diseases are on the rise. Get Checked LA! encourages family, friends and neighbors to take a more proactive role in making sure that we are healthy. Get Checked LA! is designed to take a Good Samaritan approach when it comes to our family, friends, co-workers and neighbors’ health and wellbeing. We want people to ask about their neighbors’ health; ask if the need a ride to the doctor’s office; encourage one another to eat healthier. For more information on how to join our campaign call our office.

Preventative Diseases

According to the Center for Disease Control, Chronic diseases and conditions—such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and arthritis—are among the most common, costly, and preventable of all health problems. Half of all American adults have at least one chronic condition, and almost one of three have multiple chronic conditions. Just as chronic diseases share many of the same causes, many of the same strategies and interventions can prevent them or lessen their severity. Please link the powerpoint.
